Welcoming Harper P. Johnson as Chief Information Officer
Dear colleagues,听 Since 2017, Harper has served as associate vice chancellor of information technology and CIO at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. In this role, he led campus-wide efforts to align and enhance IT capabilities through reliable, secure, and cost-effective services鈥攚hile also championing innovation and accessibility through strategic partnerships. His leadership extended beyond IT; for two years, he also served as chief human resources officer, and for six years, he oversaw online education operations and initiatives.听 Prior to his time at UCCS, Harper spent 17 years at Northern Arizona University, where he led both the Information Security and Enterprise Information Solutions teams, supporting the full range of academic and administrative technology efforts. He has also worked in the education software industry, managed an on-demand printing business, and served as an officer and pilot in the United States Air Force.听 Harper holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in international affairs from the United States Air Force Academy and a master鈥檚 in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix. We are excited to welcome him to DU and confident he will be an excellent addition to our leadership team.听 As part of the administrative restructuring announced in the spring, Harper will report to Mark DeLorenzo, senior vice chancellor for business and financial affairs.听 We want to express our deepest thanks to Rohini Ananthakrishnan, who has served as DU鈥檚 interim CIO with extraordinary dedication and impact鈥攎ost recently over the past year and, incredibly, for more than 23 years of service to DU overall.
